this bit uses volume swells with a delay pedal (set speed to 8th notes)

if you can, turn volume down just before picking the notes you are sliding 
to, pick it, and then turn volume up to get that fading in effect.
it is easier with a volume pedal. (guitar->volume->delay->chorus->amp)

fade the 9 in
 | turn down volume to 0 - the delay will sustain the note
