In 1916 we marched
For freedom through
Dublin's steaming roads
From 36 - 39 we set Spain
Ablaze from coast to coast
Our reward has been always
The same, we stood with our
Backs to the wall
The last that we saw were
Fire and smoke when rifles
Answered our call!

In 89 communist tanks gave
Us heavenly peace on the same titled place
While elsewhere on earth the
Fall of an ideal we had to face
While our brothers and
Sisters cursed the war in the
Asian rain forest
National guards opened fire
On students, four precious
Dreams got forevermore lost!
