E|E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------|| ON EVERY STDE T - Dire Straits E|E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------||Tabbed by: woega Tuning: standard This is my interpretation of the ENTID song, lyrics, chords, tabs including the INTRO, all RIFFS, and the OUTRO. I've tried to be as accurate as I can, but I'm open for suggestions :) The tabs that are directly underneath lyrics are meant to be played with the lyrics, when there's a blank line then they're played AFTER the words.F/C C G/B C There's gotta be a record of you some placeAm G/B C you gotta be on somebody's booksF/C C G/B Esus4 the lowdown, picture of your faceAm Em/G your injured looksF C the sacred and profaneF C/G G the pleasure and the painC G/B Am Em somewhere your fingerprints remain concreteDm Bb F/Bb C and it's your face I'm looking for on every streetAm E|----------| B|----------| G|----------| D|----------| A|--3-3/5-0-| E|----------|Ok now the famous 'On every street' theme appears for the first time. The piano plays the following chords:F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G A9 If you want to play them on guitar I would play them like depicted below. Put emphasis on the notes with a * to hear the melody:F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G A9 E|--x---0*--x----x---x---x---x-----x---x---| B|--x---0---3*---x---x---0*--1*----0*--0---| G|--2*--0---2----0*--2*--0---0-----0---2*--| D|--3---0---0----2---3---2---0-----0---2---| A|--3---2---0----2---3---2---2-----2---0---| E|--1---3---2----0---1---0---3-----3---x---|F/C C G/B C a ladykiller, regulation tattooE|------------| B|------------| G|--pb9| ld7-5--| D|------------| A|------------| E|------------|Am G/B C silver spurs on his heelsF/C C G/B Esus4 what can I tell you as I'm standing next to youE|---------------------------------------------------| B|-----------------------------8-------------6--5----| G|---------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------|Am Em/G she threw herself under my wheelsF C oh it's a dangerous roadF E|-----------------| B|------1-1-0-1----| G|------0-0-0-0h2--| D|--0h2-2-2-0-3----| A|------------3----| E|-----------------|F C/G G and a hazardous loadC G/B Am Em and the fireworks of liberty explode in the heatE|-----------------------------| B|--pb12| ld11b12--pb12ld10-8----| G|--------------------------9--| D|-----------------------------| A|-----------------------------| E|-----------------------------|Dm Bb F/Bb C and it's your face I'm looking for on every streetAm E|----------| B|----------| G|----------| D|----------| A|--3-3/5-0-| E|----------|The second time the main theme is played twice. The first of which is like the one above, but without the A9 at the end:F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G E|--x---0*--x----x---x---x---x-----x---| B|--x---0---3*---x---x---0*--1*----0*--| G|--2*--0---2----0*--2*--0---0-----0---| D|--3---0---0----2---3---2---0-----0---| A|--3---2---0----2---3---2---2-----2---| E|--1---3---2----0---1---0---3-----3---|The second time, as the piano plays the chords, Mark joins in for some accents, but does not play the entire tune yet. For timing purposes I added the chords above the tabs:F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G A9 E|---------------------------------------------------| B|------3/5-3---------0--------1-----3---------------| G|--(2)-----------------2--0-----------------pb9| ld7b9| D|---------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------|F/C C G/B C a three-chord symphony crashes into spaceAm G/B C the moon is hanging upside downF/C C G/B Esus4 I don't know why it is I'm still on the caseE|-------------------------------------------------------| B|-6--------------5-------------8--------6---7-------8b10| G|-------------------------------------------------------| D|-------------------------------------------------------| A|-------------------------------------------------------| E|-------------------------------------------------------|Am Em/G it's a ravenous townF E|----------------| B|---5-8-5--------| G|-----------7-5--| D|----------------| A|----------------| E|----------------|F C and you still refuse to be tracedF E|----------------| B|--5-5-6--6-8-6--| G|--5-5-7--5-7-5--| D|----------------| A|----------------| E|----------------|F C/G G seems to me such a wasteC G/B Am Em and every victory has a taste that's bittersweetE|-----------------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------/10-----------------10b12-----12| ld10-8---| G|---------------------------------------------------------------9-| D|-----------------------------------------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------------------------------------| E|-----------------------------------------------------------------|Dm Bb F/Bb C Am and it's your face I'm looking for on every streetE|-----------------------------------------------------------------| B|--7--------------5-7/9-7-----------------------------------------| G|-----------------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------------------------------------| A|-----------------------------------------------------------------| E|-----------------------------------------------------------------|Dm Bb F/Bb C Am yeah it's your face I'm looking for on every streetE|------------------------------------------------------------| B|----------------------6------------------8------------8/10--| G|---7--------------------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------------------------------| A|------------------------------------------------------------| E|------------------------------------------------------------|Ok now the hard part :) For the rythm guitar, just play the chords we have seen before repeatedly (without the A9):F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G Now I hope I can explain the lead part well enough because it involves MK-style finger picking. I'll start with the main tune first, and then add some tips to ad some flavour. We'll start with a little practice. First of all the chords are the same, but played a bit different. Try to position your fingers as below, but only play the note marked with * to get familiar with the positions:F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G E|--1---x---x----0---1---0---x-----x---| B|--1---5*--3*---0---1---0*--1*----0*--| G|--2*--4---2----0*--2*--0---0-----0---| D|--3---5---0----2---3---2---0-----0---| A|--3---x---0----2---3---2---2-----2---| E|--1---3---1----0---1---0---3-----3---|To make things a bit more interesting, we add the bass notes, and the little extra notes Mark plays. Again try to position your fingers as indicated, but only play the notes with *:F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G F G6 D/F# Em F Em Gsus4 G E|--1---x---x----0---1---0---x-----x---|--1---x---x----0---------1---0---x-----x---|---------| B|--1---5*--3*---0---1---0*--1*----0*--|--1---5*--3*---0---------1---0*--1*----0*--|--1*-0*--| G|--2*--4---2----0*--2*--0---0-----0---|--2*--4---2----0*----0*--2*--0---0-----0---|---------| D|--3---5---0----2---3---2---0-----0---|--3---5---0----2---2*----3---2---0-----0---|---------| A|--3---x---0----2---3---2---2-----2---|--3---x---0----2---------3---2---2-----2---|---------| E|--1*--3*--1*---0*--1*--0*--3*----3*--|--1*--3*--1*---0*--------1*--0*--3*----3*--|---------|This is how I play it. Upper to strings are played with index or middle finger, bass notes with the thumb. I'll try to be as accurate as I can.F G6 D/F# Em F Em G6 G E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|--------5--------3--------------------------0--------1--------0-------0--| G|--2---------4--------2----0--------2------------0--------0--------0------| D|--3--3--------5--------0------2--------3----------2--------0--------0----| A|--------------------------------2--------3-------------------------------| E|--1-------3--------2--------0--------1--------0--------3--------3--------|************************************************************* | / slide up | \ slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | pb pre bend | ld let down | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | x Mute note
